BEST WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY OF 2024
- ALISTAIR MAC PHOTOGRAPHY

Here's a selection of my favourite images that I've taken during the wedding season of 2024.

Alistair Mac's 'Best Of' wedding photography collection, 2024.

Wow, what a year 2024 has been! As I sit down to reflect on the past 12 months, I can’t help but smile at the incredible moments I’ve had the privilege of capturing for so many amazing couples. From the rolling hills of the Lake District to the stunning landscapes of North Wales, I’ve been lucky enough to photograph weddings in some of the most perfectly quirky venues across Yorkshire, Manchester, Cheshire, and beyond.

The Lake District: Love on the Fells.

One of the highlights of 2024 was a wedding set in the heart of the Lake District. There’s nothing quite like the backdrop of Windermere and Ambleside to add a touch of beauty to the already stunning Broadoaks Country House. From intimately delivered vows with the Lake Windermere glistening in the background to couples stealing quiet moments by the fountain, I was constantly reminded of why the Lake District is a photographer’s dream. Szilvi & James had family and friends visit from all over the world, and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting them all and capturing their celebrations in such a stunning setting.

Yorkshire Weddings: From Halifax to Harrogate.

Ah, Yorkshire—where the history and beauty of God’s Own country never fail to deliver the most stunning wedding venues. One particular wedding at The Venue, Bowers Mill was a dream to photograph. The epic mill itself, the old stone walls, steel beams, the amazing florals and a couple who radiated joy—it was a true celebration of love, music and friendships. Lucy & Matt celebrated not only with a traditional ceremony indoors, but also a hand fasting celebration in the leafy grounds of the venue. A particular highlight for me was when the three of us nipped off into the woods to get some relaxed, unposed portraits of the two of them.

Another memorable wedding was held in picturesque Harrogate, where Becky & Lap followed their ceremony with a delicious Chinese Restaurant meal for friends and Family, followed by a knees up at a local brewery. Of course, we timed the first dance perfectly to coincide with golden hour!

Manchester & Cheshire: City Meets Countryside

Then there were the weddings that combined the best of both worlds: chic city vibes with the tranquillity of the countryside. Manchester, always vibrant and full of life, offered some incredible urban wedding locations this year. Katie & Rob chose an intimate, industrial location for their wedding portraits, and to coincidentally celebrate a very special anniversary. It rained… a lot… but it was great to hang out under the umbrella (I always bring one, just in case) and capture their portraits by the canal.

On the flip side, a Cheshire wedding brought the rustic charm of the countryside into the mix. Alcumlow Wedding Barn, with it’s small lakes, modern outdoor chapel structure and cute interiors, Ash and James’ wedding had all the romance you could wish for. One of my favourite moments from this wedding? Meeting so many of their friends and family, who were all great to hang out with and get to know throughout the day.

North Wales: A Hidden Gem of Wedding Venues

I was also lucky enough to photograph a few weddings in North Wales this year, which quickly became one of my favourite places to shoot. Tara & Michael said their vows in the stunning gardens of Wigfair Hall, before enjoying the scenery during their portrait session.

Leeds, Leeds, Leeds!

I shot two wedding in Leeds this year! Both happened to take place at Leeds Civic Hall in Millennium Square. A stunning and grand building with beautiful natural light and plenty of space.

The celebrations of both weddings took place in various locations around Leeds, allowing the opportunity for some relaxed city centre portraits and candid moments.

A Year of Laughter, Tears, and Love

Looking back, 2024 has been a year filled with so much laughter, love, and, of course, plenty of happy tears, naturally! As a wedding photographer, it’s not just about capturing the “big moments,” it’s about the tiny, fleeting details that tell the real story: the shared glances, the unexpected bursts of laughter, the quiet moments that pass in the blink of an eye.

I’m incredibly grateful to every couple who entrusted me with their wedding day memories. Your love, your personalities, and your stories are what make this job so rewarding. Here’s to another amazing year ahead, filled with more beautiful weddings, stunning venues, and unforgettable moments!

Thank you for following along with me on this journey, and I can’t wait to see what 2025 holds. Until then, enjoy a few of my favourite images from 2024. Cheers!
